Ultrasound Service

Ultrasound Service

NVRH features a Phillips high definition X11 ultrasound machine. It is a state-of-the-art instrument used in human hospitals and capable of color flow Doppler, tissue Doppler, and echocardiography as well as 2D ultrasonography.

Ultrasound examinations are a routine component of our Emergency  services. In emergency medicine, there are several ultrasound techniques that aid in the immediate diagnosis of life threatening conditions. Evaluations of the liver and gall bladder, spleen, urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, genital system, vascular system and lymph nodes are part of our routine ultrasound exam.

When determined to be appropriate to your pet’s condition, ultrasound examinations are performed as a part of your consultation, avoiding any additional wait. Most pet's do not require sedation and are held and monitored by our certified veterinary technical staff. Our ultrasounds are interpreted on-site so that we can bring you answers as quickly as possible. After the ultrasound, the Emergency Veterinarian  will meet with you to discuss your pet’s condition and their recommendations for treatment
