Chas McBrien, DVM, MS

Dr. Chas McBrien was raised in Columbus, Ohio and earned a B.A. in psychology from Earlham College. He worked as a veterinary assistant in a small animal general practice and a large emergency and referral hospital while preparing for veterinary school. Dr. McBrien graduated from The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 where he served as class president and earned awards in Small Animal Surgery and Clinical Proficiency in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

Dr. McBrien completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University where he was awarded Intern of the Year. Following internship, Dr. McBrien attended The University of Minnesota, completing a small animal surgery residency and Master of Science in July of 2010. At Minnesota, Dr. McBrien was honored for Excellence in Teaching and completed research on bone growth in Labrador Retriever puppies.

Dr. McBrien’s professional interests include arthroscopy and stifle surgery, surgical emergencies, surgical oncology and team-oriented patient care. His personal interests include backpacking, swimming, golf and literature. The Drs. McBrien (see Internal Medicine) live with their Doberman Pinscher (Soliel), French Bulldog (Colette), cat (Mojo)and Amazon parrot (Sydney).
