
Born and raised in central Pennsylvania, Dr. Kirk Hassinger graduated from Franklin & Marshall College. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1990. After two years in private practice, he returned to the University of Pennsylvania to complete a year-long internship in internal medicine/surgery where he was awarded Intern of the Year honors. In 1996, Dr. Hassinger completed a three-year surgical residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine where he earned the Jacques Jenny Orthopaedic Resident Award.
Dr. Hassinger has served the veterinary community of Northeast Pennsylvania for thirteen years, providing expert surgical services and lecturing to local veterinary associations. Dr. Hassinger has also lectured to various veterinary organizations throughout the nation on various surgical topics. He has also published articles on hip dysplasia and a rare form of intestinal entrapment.
Although Dr. Hassinger enjoys all areas of surgery, his special interests include joint surgery and fracture repair. Dr. Hassinger is a member of the Veterinary Orthopaedic Society, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Northeastern Veterinary Medical Association. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He also enjoys playing and following all sports, especially Penn State football.
