Dr. Allison Volpe
Emergency
Dr. Allison Volpe, DVM is an Emergency Veterinarian at Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital in Plains.
For several years before vet school, Dr. Volpe worked as a veterinary assistant. She then went on to receive her B.S. in Animal Science from University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 2013 she received her D.V.M. from Purdue University. After graduation, Dr. Volpe completed a rotating internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ where she had exposure to all specialty services and emergency medicine.
Following her internship Dr. Volpe then worked in a busy ER/GP hybrid practice where she performed a high volume of emergency surgeries.
She then went to work in a general practice for several years where she had a strong interest in canine behavior, reproduction and some orthopedic surgeries.
Dr. Volpe has a special interest in emergency surgeries and all aspects of emergency medicine and care.
Outside of work, Dr. Volpe enjoys spending time with her husband Tighe. They share common interests such as working out together, golfing and watching Philly sports teams. Dr. Volpe is also part of an adult women’s hockey league. They share their home with a pitbull named Darcy, a cat named Murph and a snake named Izzy.

My puppy thought it was fun to eat a sock so we had to take him here. Everyone was amazingly kind and I could tell they actually care about animals. They brought him to the back immediately for treatment and then afterwards explained to us what they did and what to expect. The doctor was wonderful and she seemed very knowledgeable. She answered any and all of our questions. I’m comforted with knowing this type of care is available if I need their services again in the future.
