Dr. Julie Compton, MS, DACVS is an Emergency Veterinarian at Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital in Plains.
Dr. Julie Compton graduated from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, continuing her education in a rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. Dr. Compton finished a surgical internship in 2002 and was accepted into a 4-year residency program at the University of Missouri. There, she completed a Master’s degree in Arthrology and achieved Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Her career landed her north of Pittsburgh for 15 years growing a small private practice into a large, successful business. She was the president of the WPVMA for 2 years, helping to bring the local veterinarians together to provide meaningful continuing education. She has successfully trained multiple rotating interns, surgical interns, and surgical residents during her time in private practice. Dr. Compton has expertise in all aspects of surgery, including soft tissue, orthopedics, and neurosurgery. Although she still resides in western PA, Dr. Compton has returned to eastern Pennsylvania where she was born and raised to work part-time here at Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital, allowing her to spend more time with her parents, siblings, and grandparents.
Dr. Compton enjoys spending her spare time with her family, wife, 4 children, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. She has a small hop farm, loves to coach and watch her daughter play softball, watch her son run cross country, and experience the outdoors. Her goal at this point in her career is to provide meaningful care to each and every patient, to take time, to listen, to care.
